Chinese New Year Tradition
In the Republic of China has 1.3 Billion people. They celebrate the Chinese New Year that follows the Lunar (moon) calendar. This year will be the year of the rat.

Egg Rolls
Thursday, Leadership will be selling egg rolls at lunch 2 for $1.00

Valentine's Day Candy Grams
Valentine's Day Candy Grams will be on sale now thru February 12 in the quad at lunch for $0.25 each. Please make sure you fill out the card with the person's first and last name and their 5th period teacher's name on it so we know exactly who to send it to and where to send it.

Talent Show Try Outs
Think you can dance? Think you can sign better than American Idol? Show your amazing talents in the CMS talent show. It is not to late to try-out! Today is the last days to try-out for the show. So don't miss out!

Garden Club
On Feb. 7th, 2008 Garden Club will be going on a walking fieldtrip.
Please return your permission slips to Miss C on or before the day of the trip to reserve your spot. I can only take up to 12 students maximum. First permission slips in are the first allowed to attend.

CMS Gazette
The CMS Gazette would like to make the following correction to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day article featured in the CMS Gazette for January 2008: The word radical should be replaced by influential. The Gazette would like to apologize for any confusion that this might have caused and truly regret this error.

Homeroom Competition
They're back! Our first homeroom competition for the 2nd semester will be on Thursday, February 7. In honor of the Chinese New Year, we will all be wearing red. The homeroom with the most participants wins! Leadership kids will be around during SSR to get your totals. To avoid distraction, please have your totals ready when they arrive.

Spelling Bee
Reminder that Thursday at 6:30 pm is the annual CMS spelling bee for big cash prizes! The bee will be held at the Masonic Lodge (Next door by the Post Office). All 7th / 8th grade students signed up to participate need to attend a short meeting in Mrs. Swarm's room at 12:30. Get your lunch and come on over to room 1 to get some information about the bee... and a sweet treat!

MASC TODAY! 4pm in Ms. West's room 10. If you like science, stop by for some fun experiments.
