It's time to get into the holiday spirit once again. The canned food drive is back in full gear. Please do your best to bring in more cans to your 5th period class starting now all the way through Thursday, December 13. As a school, let's try to beat our last record of 341 cans. Thank you to all the classrooms that participated in the canned food drive. Because of your generosity, we were able to collect 341 canned food items for St. Joseph's church. You should all be proud of yourselves. Since we could not pick a homeroom winner for the competition, everyone will get points based on the number of canned food items your homeroom brought in, but, the top winners are as follows:

Way to go Mrs. Foster's class 61 cans!
Tied with 56 cans each Mrs. Swarm and Mr. Hotchner classes.
Mrs. Manos class comes in 3rd with 35 cans.

Word of the day is baaaaack! Just when you thought there were no new words to learn... this week, we will look at 4 cool new adjectives with the "ous" suffix. "ous" words mean "full of" some particular trait or done in a particular manner.
Ex: COPIOUS: abundant; plentiful. Mr. Johnson gave a fascinating lecture on the American Revolution while the students enthusiastically took COPIOUS notes.

ASB is beginning monthly student recognition for each grade. Do you know a student who deserves to be "October Student of the Month"? Do you know a student who has improved in citizenship or grades? Is there someone you know or don't know who has really done better this year in class? If so, please write a letter of recommendation nominating this student. If you have any questions on how to write this letter, ask your English teacher for help. All letters are due by Nov. 9. School picture re-takes are this Friday. If you did not get your picture taken then please come to MPR at lunch or nutrition to have your picture taken. You can get a picture order form Mrs. Payne in the office.

CADE (Celebrating Adversity, Diversity, and Education)
CADE will meet during lunch and after school today to prepare for our Day of the Dead fund raiser Friday, November 2nd. Thank you to all students who have been coming after school this week to help setup!

ALL CMS students and staff
Come and support our club as we try to raise money for a trip to Berkeley next semester. We will be selling tamales, rice, horchata, bunuelos, and posole during lunch Friday, Nov. 2nd.

Independent PE
IPE students please bring your signed IPE requirement forms back to the office Friday, 11/2 (tomorrow). Also you need to turn in your IPE time sheets for the weeks of 10/21, 10/28, and 11/2 by Friday.
